Family Visas

Reuniting Families in Australia

Family Visas

The Australian government understands the importance of family unity, recognizing that family members play an integral role in providing support and enhancing the well-being of each other. Whether you're looking to reunite with your children, parents, or other relatives, Australia offers a range of Family Visas to help make that dream a reality. These visas allow families to stay together, ensuring emotional support, shared experiences, and long-term stability. We understand that navigating the complex process of applying for family visas can be challenging, but with the right guidance and support, it is possible to bring your loved ones closer to you in Australia. We are here to assist you with Parent Visas, Child Visas, and Remaining Relative Visas.

Types of Family Visas

1. Parent Visas

Australia offers a variety of Parent Visas for parents of Australian citizens, permanent residents, and eligible New Zealand citizens. These visas allow parents to reunite with their children and live in Australia. The key categories under the Parent Visa program include:

  • Parent Visa Subclass 103: This permanent visa allows parents to live in Australia permanently. It is for parents whose children are Australian citizens, permanent residents, or eligible New Zealand citizens. The processing time for this visa can be long, so it’s essential to plan well in advance.
  • Contributory Parent Visa Subclass 143: This visa allows parents to live permanently in Australia, but with a higher application fee compared to the standard Parent Visa. The Contributory Parent Visa requires applicants to make a significant contribution to the cost of the Australian healthcare system. The benefit of this visa is that it has a faster processing time.
  • Temporary Parent Visa Subclass 870: The Temporary Parent Visa offers a temporary solution, allowing parents to live in Australia for up to 3 or 5 years. After the temporary visa expires, parents can apply for a permanent visa if they are eligible. This visa provides an opportunity for families to stay together in the short term before a permanent solution can be achieved.

These visas provide an essential pathway for parents to live with their children in Australia, contributing to the overall well-being and happiness of the family unit.

2. Child Visas

The Child Visa allows parents to bring their biological, adopted, or stepchildren to Australia, provided the child is under 18 years of age (or 25 years old if financially dependent and studying full-time).

There are several visa subclasses under the Child Visa category:

  • Child Visa Subclass 101: This permanent visa is for children who are outside Australia and wish to migrate to join their Australian citizen or permanent resident parents. Applicants must be under the age of 18 (or 25, if financially dependent on their parent). The child must be the biological or adopted child of the sponsoring parent.
  • Adoption Visa Subclass 102: This visa is for children who have been adopted by an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen. The adoption must be legally recognized by the Australian Government, and the child must be under 18 years of age.
  • Orphan Relative Visa Subclass 117: If a child’s parents are deceased or cannot care for them, the child can apply for this visa to be cared for by a relative in Australia. The relative can be a grandparent, aunt, uncle, or other close family member.

The Child Visa program ensures that children can grow up with their families in Australia, allowing for a nurturing environment and access to quality education and healthcare.

3. Remaining Relative Visa

The Remaining Relative Visa Subclass 115 allows people who have no other close family members outside of Australia to reunite with their remaining relatives in the country. Applicants must prove that they have no other family members overseas who can provide the same level of care and support. This visa allows applicants to live in Australia permanently and build a life with their close relatives.

This visa is designed to help those who do not have parents, siblings, or children left in their home country, providing a pathway to family reunification in Australia.
