Student Visas and Permits in Georgia
It’s not tough to get all of your paperwork and permissions. In reality, when it comes to studying, Georgia offers one of the most straightforward visa rules.
For up to a year, citizens of the European Union, the European Economic Area, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Canada, and the United States, as well as many other countries, can enter Georgia without a visa. Chinese and Indian citizens are allowed to stay for up to thirty days in any one-hundred-and-twenty-day period, however, Taiwanese passport holders are denied access at the border. Those possessing Palestinian travel documents are also barred from entering. Even if they are traveling on another passport, those possessing documentation proving Palestinian nationality are turned away at the border.
These exclusions, however, only apply to tourism and other types of short-term trips. If you want to study or work while you’re studying, you’ll need a visa. Georgia, on the other hand, is a bit of an outlier in this regard. You don’t require a student visa if you’re from a nation that has a year-long visa exemption period. You won’t need to bother about obtaining a residence permit until you are in Georgia. Simply ensure that your passport is stamped when you arrive and that it is valid for the duration of your stay.
You have 45 days to receive your permission after you arrive in Georgia. To do so, go to the Public Service Hall in Tbilisi and hand over papers such as your enrolment confirmation, a receipt for tuition costs paid, and your passport. A Student Residence Permit will be granted to you a few days later. This permit allows you to live lawfully in Georgia for the duration of your studies, and it can be extended if you find work there thereafter.
