Benefits of the Subclass 491 Visa

The Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) Visa Subclass 491 offers numerous benefits to skilled workers, their families, and employers in regional areas:

1. Live and Work in Regional Australia

This visa encourages skilled migrants to settle in regional areas of Australia where their skills are in demand. These regions include thriving cities such as Adelaide, Perth, and Hobart, as well as rural communities offering unique career and lifestyle opportunities.

2. Pathway to Permanent Residency

The Subclass 491 visa provides a pathway to permanent residency through the Skilled Regional Permanent Visa (Subclass 191). To qualify for this pathway, visa holders must meet specific requirements, such as earning a minimum taxable income for at least three years and living in a designated regional area.

3. Inclusion of Family Members

Applicants can include eligible family members in their Subclass 491 visa application. This allows families to move to Australia together and benefit from the same rights and conditions as the primary applicant.

4. Access to Australia’s Skilled Occupation List

Applicants can apply for the visa if their occupation is listed on the Skilled Occupation List (SOL). The list is regularly updated to address Australia’s changing economic and labor market needs, providing opportunities for professionals in various fields.

5. Flexibility for Skilled Workers

Unlike employer-sponsored visas, the Subclass 491 visa allows skilled workers to apply independently or through sponsorship by a family member in a regional area. This provides greater flexibility for applicants who may not have a direct connection to a specific employer.
